Loosely inserted typescript card with the message "Met die beste groete en wense van Die skrywer". 8vo; original red cloth, lettered in black on spine; dustwrapper; pp. 198; plate. Dustwrapper edgeworn, partially sunned and a bit foxed; endpapers, outermost leaves and edges a somewhat foxed. Good. Afrikaans text. Holmer Johanssen was the pseudonym of Johan Frederik Holleman (1915-2001), whose slim output attracted critical acclaim. "In Die swerftog van die Helena (1963) bundel Johannsen sketse oor Masjonaland en 'n aantal kortverhale, waarvan die titelverhaal met sy kontras tussen 'n jeugervaring en die ontnugterende herontmoeting met 'n eertydse vriendin die treffendste is." - Kannemeyer: Die Afrikaanse Literatuur 1652-2004, p. 142 .
