Bristol: John Agg, 1809 Abridged version. pp 84. Internally very good subject to some staining affecting the first couple of pages.Recently rebound in marbled boards and calf spine.

This textbook for law students first appeared in 1528 and went through a succession of editions in the 16th and 17th centuries. This copy comprises the title page, a page of chapter headings, Proemium ( 5 pages), The Table ( 39 pages) , and 334 pages of text. Internally generally very good subject to a small wormhole through lower inner margins affecting one or two letters, and some loss to the edges ( presumably from insects) of the first and last two blank leaves, and also the title page ( but not affecting the text). There is the ownership signature of a John Bond on the title page ( neat and inoffensive) and a number of notes in the margins of the text ( in French in a very neat hand). The binding is firm. The cover ( contempory sheep ) is somewhat worn with a 1cm crack between the top of the spine and the front cover, and there are two small wormholes in the spine.

Respecting the Estates of Testators, Intestates and Wards. Carefully Collected. Together with a comprehensive Alphabetical Index. To which are added, a variety of forms, for the use of Probate Courts and of such persons as may have business to transact therein .. A copy of an early Portland imprint. Clean brown leather with red spine label. Text tight, clean & intact. Front hinge starting by spine head, cover firmly attached. Free front endpaper with small piece missing from top margin. Law; 16mo 6" - 7" tall .

London: Companie of Stationers, 1623 pp [1] + [2] + [2] + [18] + (578) + [5] ; First published in 1580. Internally very good subject to top margin fairly closely cropped but no impact on lettering, inoffensive water staining noticeable on a fair proportion of the leaves. Owners bookplate , with signature, late 19th cent, on inside front cover. The book has been rebacked with new endpapers; front of what looks to be the original spine retained. The boards, which look to be contemporary, are sound.
