No date. Ca. 1940.. Engraving / mezzotint (?), added handcolor, image area 24 x 19 inches on sheet size 31 1/2 x 24 1/2 inches. A few areas of light soiling to outer margin, two inch repaired tear to mid left edge (over 3 inches from image area), a few pinholes in each corner (all well outside image area), light adhesive tape along verso of upper edge (barely visible from front). Very good condition. A reproductive engraving after a painting by Boucher in the Rococo style showing a group of women with a fortune teller lounging in a lush forest. The early decades of the 20th century saw a fashion for reproductive mezzotints of traditional paintings such as this one which was produced in France for the English market (marked "Printed in France" at lower right corner). .
