D. by Roger Daniel, Printer to the University, 1646. 12mo, xx, 437pp., xii; VG; spine brown with horizontal gilt, bright red text plate with gilt lettering; bound in brown calf with gilt tooling on board edges; some damage on bottom of spine extending onto both boards, appears to be from a piece of tape; some wear on spine edge between spine and front board, bumping and peeling on board corners, some wear to rear board; rebound between front board and ffep with archival tape; inside front board has some writing in ink; ffep has two sheets of paper glued onto it, partially covered by the previously mentioned tape, the first what appears to be a quote about the translator Farrar with a citation, the second a miniature bibliography about Valdesso, including some incorrect information and a citation, both noted handwritten in ink; on the verso of the ffep and the recto of the second are two separate excerpts from other manuscripts, typed, about the life of Valdesso, both are also glued; on the page opposite the title page is an ex-libra from Bishop Phillpotts Library, dated 1872; a name is written in ink of the title page; some minor underlining and marking throughout; errata page in rear of book; very few age marks on pages; a scarce copy; shelved case 3.
