This charming publication from the Foolscap Press contains poems for each letter of the alphabet with different species of dogs, ordered from A to Z, and filled with humour and rhyme. Each poem describes the unique personality of each dog, and accompanying the poems are linocuts by Peggy Gotthold, whose energetic designs capture the characters of the animals in a buoyant style that matches the tone of the poems. ___DESCRIPTION: Quarter brown cloth with decorative cream paper boards featuring ornate printed letters, cream paper spine label with orange lettering, endpapers with the same all-over letter design as the boards, title page in orange and black with orange linocut of a dog by Peggy Gotthold, initial capitals printed in various colours and styles at the beginning of each poems, colour linocuts of dogs by Gotthold throughout; Poliphilus type, Curtis Holcomb Text paper, twenty-fourmo size (6.5" by 5"), pagination: 57 unnumbered pages, one of 200 copies, this number 39. Includes the postcard announcement for the book as sent to the prior owner with their name and address, and the publisher's online prospectus, three pages digitally printed in colour (n.b., still available online). ___CONDITION: A fine copy; the covers clean, the corners straight and unrubbed, the binding tight with solid hinges, the interior clean and bright, and free of prior owner markings.
