From the publisher's blurb: ''The strange story of the young, beautiful, bewitching Donna Madixxa and the aging, lovelorn, millionaire Colorado merchant prince surpasses in interest in many respects the stories of Baby Doe Tabor and the Unsinkable Molly Brown. Their hectic love lives and bitter hatreds inspired lurid headlines in the American and European press during the eighties and nineties. The Donna, born in Madrid, granddaughter of a Spanish count, was a graduate of Boston University. In 1881 she established a school of elocution in pioneer Denver, sponsored by justices of the Supreme Court, bankers and a former governor and soon married the wealthy Daniels, who promised to build her a mansion surpassing that of the silver king, Tabor, but they quarreled over the handsome young Briton known as 'Lord Roquefort' and agreed to separate.'' This was only the beginning of their odd relationship and legal sparring.
