About This Item

University of Connecticut, 1968. Rare, 1968 Private Press Art Exhibit Catalogue Only 4,000 copies printed. Publication designed by artist Leonard Baskin. 4to size trade paperback; unpaginated - more than 60 pages with 44 full page black and white illustrations. Prints are back to back, and are suitable for framing if so desired. This catalogue is from an exhibit curated by the University of Connecticut Museum of Art which also traveled to the San Francisco Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art and the Boston University School of Fine and Applied Arts Gallery. A four page Introduction by Marvin S. Sadik, director of the Museum of Art at the University of Connecticut is a biography of Hyman Bloom from his birth in Brunoviski, Lithuania and includes an overview of his career and of the artwork in this exhibit. That is followed by a section describing the black and white plates, and the final section, the plates themselves. There appears to be some evidence of insect damage or abrasions to covers, tanned band to top of back cover and spine; book is slightly warped near bottom of spine, which may flatten out under the weight of a very heavy book such as a dictionary. There are fingermarks on back cover and soil to top corner of front cover. . Trade Paperback. Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
