THE DROWNED WORLD & THE WIND FROM NOWHERE, Doubleday, 1965, first edition, some age toning and moisture splotches to the t.p.e.'s with no bleed through to the upper margins of the text block (although the upper fore edge corners of the front and rear end-papers reveal a small bit of it), else just about fine in just about vg dust-wrapper save for some light chipping to the head of the dust-wrapper spine and some tanning to the outer margins of the rear dust-wrapper panel. 

Garden City: Doubleday, 1965. First edition thus. Hardcover. Near Fine/very good. First collected edition of these two novels, and the first US hardback edition of either of them. From the time when Ballard was still a secret known mostly to science fiction fans. Both the trade and the book club editions on this book are moderately scarce -- the trade scarcer and more desirable, of course. Clipped dustjacket with several closed tears, the longest about 5cm at the head of the spine; now in a protector to prevent further damage. The book is clean, with slight flaking of the gold on the spine title. A difficult title to find for the Ballard completist.
