An abridgement of the earlier two-volume Everyman's Library edition entitled "Of Dramatic Poesy and Other Critical Essays of John Dryden." Mr. Dryden (1631-1700) was a dominant literary figure in the Restoration era and was named England's first Poet Laureate in 1668. With an introduction by William Henry Hudson. An entry in Everyman's Library "Essays & Belles-Lettres" series. E.L. no. 568. --- In Everyman's Library larger format binding style 4. Full blue cloth-covered boards with gilt-stamped spine titling and gilt interlocked "EL" in script at tail of spine; orange topstain. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- With a couple of white spots to front cover, frequent inked underlinings & markings to introduction and t.o.c. (and at least once within the main body of the text), as well as prior owner's signature to half title page, otherwise a clean, tightly-bound copy.; 12mo - 7 to 7-1/2 in. tall; xviii, 302 pages .
