About This Item

Hamburg, Paris, Milano: The Albatross, 1932. Presented here is an interesting side-story in publishing history. "The Albatross" was founded in 1932 to produce the first mass-market paperbounds, presented in a standardized design. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition Thus. Yellow wraps with black lettering, which under the system makes this a "psychological novel." Moderate soiling, creasing, and a darkened spine. The text is clean; 255 pages. Several pages of publisher's explanations, current in-print, and coming attractions. The last few pages are present, but loose in the bind. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Thus. Soft Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.

Dubliners is a collection of 15 short stories by James Joyce, first published in 1914. The fifteen stories were meant to be a naturalistic depiction of the Irish middle class life in and around Dublin in the early years of the 20th century. The stories were written at the time when Irish nationalism was at its peak, and a search for a national identity and purpose was raging; at a crossroads of history and culture, Ireland was jolted by various converging ideas and influences.
