Matching 11 volume set with dark green covers with blind print decoration and gilt lettering and decoration on spines. Bound into volume XI is Leonard Townsend's 'An Alphabetical Chronology of Remarkable Events, from the earliest authentic period to the present time'. Covers are all a little worn and corners are bumped. Slight wear to spine ends. Set is ex-library and has a stamp for "Halifax Antiquarian Society", a "Withdrawn" stamp and hand written reference numbers on inside of front covers and front end-papers. Spines have traces of tape or reference stickers near the bottom. All volumes contain many engraved plates. These include county maps (all present), building plans, portraits of famous people, landscapes, castles, churches, monuments, ruins. etc. Volumes I, II and III have frontis plates and vignette title pages. Facing plates have protective paper leaves. Some pages are a little darkened. There is foxing to most pages and plates in varying degrees, some have little to none, some have light to moderate foxing. A few plates have heavier foxing. Pages and plates are otherwise clean. Most plates have "Drawn and Engraved for Dugdales, England & Wales, Delineated" outside of frame, two maps also state "1843" (Cumberland and Gloucestershire), two maps (39 Warwickshire and 40 Westmorland) have "Drawn and Engraved under the direction of E W Brayley", and ten (12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 31, 32, 35, 36, and 38) have nothing outside of the frame.
