About This Item

Cambridge at the University Press., 1946. First edition. Small octavo. 14 pages. Wrappers. A poem, winner of the Seatonian Prize for 1945 on the subject ''A just balance and scales are the Lord's''. Laid in is an Autograph Letter, signed, of about 180 words, undated and written in pencil, from the author to Laurence Whistler who had reviewed the author's Cage & Wing in the T.L.S.: ''...I do not know all of your work but we printed four from you in Poems of This War... If ever you are in Cambridge I hope you will come & find me at the University Press. It will make an event in days that go steadily by; and Cambridge is a good town to visit if it is not raining...''. With the pencilled ownership signature of Laurence Whistler on the half-title. Covers a little marked and faded at edges. The A.L.S. is in excellent state. Very good.
