Timmins for George Allen & Unwin, no date). 8vo; original khaki cloth, lettered in black on spine and upper board; price-clipped pictorial dustwrapper; decorative endpapers; pp. 211, incl. index; line drawings by the author in text. "EAT AND BE MERRY ... is a study of food and people, presented as only this writer can, with piquancy, relish and a chuckle. Even if you never want to see the inside of a kitchen you will read it with delight and wish it were twice as long. These character sketches are real and living portraits. ... We are given old English dishes, traditional South African favourites, continental dishes with a spice of elegance, original recipes from America and some few discovered by the writer's own spirit of adventure." .
