About This Item

Louvain: Martinum van Overbeke, 1759. First edition. Leather Bound. Very Good +. 4 ¼ x 6 ¾ inches. 6 vols. uniformly bound in matching contemporary full mottled calf. Marbled endpapers. Spines of each volume have six compartments, four containing extensive gilt decoration, one with a black spine label displaying Tom. Number, and one containing a red spine label with "Daelman Theologia." Pages are clean and crisp and free of marking foxing, soiling and staining. All page edges are rouged, and all boards are firmly attached. A few scattered and unobtrusive library stamps. The volumes are as follows: Vol 1. (book 1): xvi + 604 numbered pages + index; small scrapes to front board and slight loss to head and tail of spine, slight crack to spine leather; Vol. 2 (book 2): iv + 448 + index; Vol. 3 (books 3 and 4): iv + 307 + index, 313 + index, slight loss to tail of spine; Vol. 4 (book 5) (1760): 591 + index, front hinge a little weak, partial loss of red spine label and head of spine; Vol. 5 (books 6 and 7) (1760): 587 + index, 117 + index, front hinge a little weak but firmly attached; Vol. 6 (book 9) (1761): 542 + index, slight loss to head and tail of spine. A very nice and attractive set of this scarce neo-Calvinist commentary on St. Thomas Aquinas.
