"One of the earliest serious studies of ranch economics, this book yields insight into the problems of ranching in southwest Texas in the early part of [the 20th] century. It also contains much local history of Sutton Co., Texas. Written as Youngblood's doctoral thesis in 1921, it was published the following year by Texas A&M University, where he became director of the extension service." - Reese. The present copy has a press bulletin for the ensuing publication by A&M laid in, which advertises the treatise as, "the first comprehensive treatment by the Texas Station of the business of grazing and should be of especial interest to graziers throughout the state."
