About This Item

Santa Rosa, CA: Black Sparrow Press, 1999. Original promotional poster for a performance by Edgar Winter's White Trash, Mylon LeFevre, and Tin House, performing at the Painter's Mill Music Fair in Owings Mills, Maryland on Sunday, February 21, 1971. Copy from the estate of the poster's designer, the late Alan Rose. Dating from the earliest days of Edgar Winter's budding popularity, it is on this tour that his band would acquire Floyd Radford from tourmates Tin House, thus ending Tin House's US tour (and career) before they even reached the west coast. Also appearing on the lineup is Mylon LeFevre, who is considered to have released the first true "Jesus Rock" album in 1970, "Mylon, We Believe," likely here on tour to promote its release. Art Deco-themed poster designed by a young Alan Rose, who attended the Maryland Institute College of Art and contributed design work to director John Waters' uniquely Baltimorean films. Not long after this poster was made Rose would move to New York City and begin working for the National Lampoon, later earning acclaim for his popular paper model-building books. 15.5 x 32 inches, printed recto only in dark brown. Very Good plus, with toning and bumps at the top and bottom extremities.
