About This Item

Buenos Aires, Argentina: Fotogaleria Teatro Municipal General San Martin, 1994. First Edition. First Printing.. Softcover. Fine/No Dust Jacket, As Issued.. Buenos Aires, Argentina: Fotogaleria Teatro Municipal General San Martin, 1994. Softcover. Fine/None, As Issued. First Edition/First Printing. 11 pages. Exhibition Catalog. The first and only edition. Published in a small and limited print run as a softcover original only. There is no ISBN. The Exhibition Catalog is now rare. Keep in mind that Eduardo Gil did not publish his first full-fledged book, " (argentina) ", until 2002, which this early catalog precedes by almost a decade. An austerely elegant production by Sara Facio: Oversize-volume format. Pictorial softcovers with titles on the cover, as issued. Photographs by Eduardo Gil. Except for a Biography appended at the end, there is no other text. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Buenos Aires to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents a selection of Eduardo Gil's exemplary photographs. "Focuses on the detail that makes the view effective, exerting a mark, almost a wound. It breaks the scene forever. In that social crack, his photographs simultaneously reveal and provoke, his aesthetic procedure observes, crops, accentuates, obtains, and establishes its aim. And there, it fires up. Anonymous paradigms with their own mystery, the author doesn't tell us anything about their conception or context, leave us confronting our own phantasmal representations, creating a double game: Through concealment, it exposes. Twisted scenarios, military delusions, adhesions, raised hands, legacies, deafness, and blindness due to the proximity of contact; the refuge of ambiguous flags, farce, and faith construct and stage a new territory that's always present but nonetheless never seen as such until now" (Gabriela Liffschitz). An esteemed iconic figure in his native Argentina, Eduardo Gil is its single most important living photographer. He has participated in more than 180 exhibitions throughout the world, but did not publish his first full-fledged book, " (argentina) " until 2002, to immense international acclaim. Here are some of the searing images that have made him both a cult photographer and a national artist. An absolute "must-have" title for Eduardo Gil collectors. This title is a contemporary art photography classic. As far as we know, this is the only copy of the Exhibition Catalog available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare copy thus. 7 full-page plates. Eduardo Gil's " (argentina) " is widely regarded as one of the greatest Latin-American photography books of our time. One of the greatest photographers of our time. A fine copy. .
