Showing a waste up view of the bearded Hippocrates at a table resting his forearm on a human skull as he dissects the head of a bull. Latin text printed below the portrait and on verso. From 'The workes of that famous chirurgion Ambrose Parey translated out of Latine and compared with the French. by Th: Johnson'. 6 1/2 x 10 1/2", matted in archival mat.
