New York, NY: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1894. Hardcover. Acceptable. Illustrated. The Egyptian Book Of The Dead. A Complete Translation And first of this edition "with ninety-nine plates produced in facsimile from the Turin Papyrus and the Louvre Papyrus". Heavy FOLIO. Green cloth, gilt decorated board. Light scuffing to spine, head and heel, corners and edges are considerably worn. Still a distinguished copy, in ample archival acetate jacket. NOTE: Severe front edge stain affects boards and top corner only somewhat, but penetrates the margin throughout the text, more strongly in first few signatures. The chipped front edge of title page and chipping and closed tears to first 3 pages of text are repaired with transparent archival document tape. The stain affects a small portion of text up to page 60 - whereupon it fades and shrinks through the rest of the text. Plates in rear are unaffected with a stain only at the far front edge of the page. INCLUDED, for your reference, is the British Museum guide "The Book of the Dead with Twenty-Five Illustrations" Printed by order of the Trustees, 1920. Blue wraps. Additional shipping will be required.
