London: Ward, Lock & Co, 1904. First Edition. First edition. 308 pp. with illustrated plates. Bound in publisher's blue cloth, front stamped in pale green, spine stamped in gilt. Very Good+ with light rubbing to edges, pages toned with age, offsetting to endpapers. A rare Lost World adventure tale set in the Amazon. The author was born in Belfast, present-day Northern Ireland and is best known for his 1895 novel The Crack of Doom, which reputedly contains the first description of an atomic explosion.
