Among these are a condemnation of executive overreach, support for a national bank, and objection to the annexation of Texas. Opposing the economic policies of Martin Van Buren and the annexation of Texas and supporting the election of Edward Everett as governor and George Hull as lieutenant-governor of Massachusetts. WINTHROP - Octavo, brown cloth titled in gilt with frames & decorations in blind on both covers & the City of Boston seal in gilt on the rear cover. The corners of the covers and the head & tail of the spine are rubbed & the lower half of the front joint is starting to split. 72 pages. The front hinge is cracked. The edges of the pastedowns, endpapers & flyleaf are darkened and there is occasional light foxing. Despite its flaws, a good, attractive copy.
