About This Item

Siem Reap, Cambodia: McDermott Gallery, 2009. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/near fine. McDermott, John. Boards are covered in rich brown cloth with stamped-in title on both front and spine. Only flaw to report is bottom front corner of front board is slightly bumped. Photographer's signiture is on title page with black fountain pen. Interior is otherwise clean throughout. White jacket with tritone plate on front is clean and without chips or tears. Bottom front-fold corner has a couple of light creases from the same slightly-bumped corner. From jacket front flap, "John McDermott's magical images let us enter an Angkor that is rapidly vanishing: the hidden realm of temples lost in the forest, a nineteenth century explorer's dream....Created in a fourteen year labor of love, Elegy is the definitive collection of Mc Dermott's Angkor photography." Book contains 104 tritone plates. From back of jacket, a quote from the New York Times, "The Ansel Adams of Angkor...His pictures are not just beautiful but iconic...dreamlike photos, which look as though they were taken in an ancient, forgotten world..."

About Black River Books

Black River Books is a hobby that grew into a passion, then an internet business, and finally into a business with an actual store front. Having the store has caused us to minimize our online presence. We are located at 330 Kalamazoo St. Suite 2, in South Haven, MI 49090. Order online, should you find a treasure in our small collection, check out our website, or stop in and see our in-store collection of over 40,000 books in beautiful South Haven, on the Black River and the shores of Lake Michigan.
