Printed for R. Dodsley in Pall Mall ; And Fold By M. Cooper in Pater-noster-Row, 1751. Book. Rare. Custom Bound. Fifth Edition, Corrected. The fifth edition (corrected), published the same year as the first. Woodcuts, used as divides on title page, with motifs of death: skull, crossed bones, gravediggers, spade, etc. With Walpole's anonymous "Advertisement", and "wrote" dropped from the title in favour of "written". A remarkably clean and well-preserved copy housed in a custom-made linen folder, with fine leather spine and tips, and two leather labels with crisp gilt lettering on the front cover. Previous owner's leather label to front cover beneath title label ("Paul T. Platt, New York, 1951"). Text clean, binding strong. [Montreal Books rating system: 1. Fine; 2. Near Fine; 3. Very Good; 4.
