About This Item
New York: Rinehart & Company 1956, 1st printing. (Hardcover) Very good, no dust jacket. 250pp. Photographic frontispiece, photographic plates. The spine is lightly cocked and edgeworn, there is a previous owner's inkstamp to the front fixed endpaper and the top edge, and there is discoloration at the hinge between the half-title page and the frontispiece. "My Africa is gone, said Jordan. If I knew it like a book it is now an old book, and its pages are yellow. I have seen a thousand elephants herded in the Semiliki Valley in the noon sun. Their trunks hanging idle, only their ears moving against the flies. I have killed forty crocodile in one day on Victoria Nyanza. I killed crocodile because I hated them, not just for the three rupees a head that the Germans were paying. Nothing else I killed like that" - from the first chapter. As told to John Prebble. Locale: Africa. (Hunting, Adventure and Adventurers, Big Game Hunting, Elephants, Hunting, Natural History).
