About This Item

Original 1914 Children's Illustrated Irish Connaught Fairytale Collection Illustrated with Six Tipped in Color Plates by Elsie Anna Wood for Monica Cosens "The Elfin Cobbler" These Twelve Irish Fairy stories of the "Good People" focus on Connaught. Our co-founder Moira Joyce of our Three Geese In Flight Celtic Books her family is from Tuam and Clonbur in Joyce Country One of the Tales in here about the Witch of Joyce's Country is well known. The Fairy Faith is still strong in the west of Ireland centering on Cnoc Meadha I can attest to it doing field work on the hill. (almost taken by the Good People) The Six color plates are wonderful see our photo. NOT a library copy. 93 pp..There is lot of foxing on on first free endpaper with previous owners colorful signature and.the top and bottom of page edges. Binding intact solid (a few small cover dings or bends. NOT a chip as it seems in photo) and tight Pages clean free of writing no scribbling. Soiling on back cover Plates themselves clean and bright and all present. Not perfect but very nice and quite hard to find a book not affected far more in the wet west. A wonderful Irish Fairy treasure gift. Three Geese In Flight Celtic Myth since 1977 our passion
