OUP. 1929 1st edition.. Size 9.25 x 11.5 inches. In maroon cloth covers with gilt to spine and front. With dustwrapper. In very good condition with good dustwrapper (dw; spine slightly faded and rubbed with small chips at top end. Slightly rubbed along edges with small marks, stains and tears. Not price clipped). Neat inscription to front endpaper, dated 1930. Else a clean and tight copy. 27pp. With b/w plates. William Sheldon introduced tapestry making to England in the mid 16th century. The industry he established in Warwickshire produced a series of magnificent tapestries. The object of this book is to identify the surviving examples in private and public collections in England.
