New York: William Elliott, 1812. Title page date 1812. Exceptionally scarce city directory which includes resident addresses and occupations, as well as a reverse directory by street, other useful information. Very worn. Printed hardcover which is darkened and coated with what appears to be shellac, homemade leather spine with title, date and author neatly hand printed in gilt, about 8.5" tall. Mispaginations throughout but complete: 32, 31, [2], 42-96, 89-178, i-lxxx; plus Compendious Almanack for 1812-13 and A Tide Table printed on the verso of the front free endpaper. Covers heavily chipped and worn, hinges repaired with old paper tape, paper tape in gutter of front free endpaper and preliminary blank, binding cracked at the title page and final page but text block otherwise sound with no loosened pages, page age-toned but clean with some uniform foxing, old dampstaining to top half of first few leaves, modern name and address stamp in blue ink stamped in the middle title page below the subtitle and above the publisher information, and on final blank.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
