Description:
[Seattle], 1909. Very good.. 98pp. 16mo. Original printed wrappers, string-tied at gutter. Minor wear and soiling to wraps. Some leaves uncut; light toning at edges of text block. Signed by author on title page. First publication by Gertrude Ethel Mallette, comprising a group of children's poems and stories involving princesses, knights, fairies, and other whimsical characters, published while she was a student at the University of Washington. According to her hometown paper, the Spokane Spokesman, Mallette was the first woman to edit a college publication on campus, a monthly periodical called the Washingtonian. She went on to publish a series of adventures, romances, and mysteries for teen girls and young women. OCLC locates only two copies of the present work, at University of Washington and the Library of Congress.
