Two (2) illustrated booklets advertising lingerie and undergarments by Hollywood Vassarette, with "stories" relating the history of embroidery and lace-making by women: "Because Hollywood Vassarette lingerie and sleep fashions frequently feature dainty, delicate or whimsical embroideries, it seems appropriate to offer this educational booklet so that you may learn the embroidery story ... of its origin, development, present day manufacture as well as identity of basic hand embroidery stitches" (upper wrapper verso). The two booklets include:
"The Embroidery Story". Minneapolis: Hollywood Vassarette, c.1960. 8vo (9" by 6"), pp. [12] with in-text illustrations, stapled in original illustrated wrappers. Provides an overview of the art of embroidery, its origin, and its history in the Western world. Includes a history of machine embroidery and two pages of exemplar stitches in the rear.
