Houston, TX: The order (Webster printing Co., Houston), 1935. Partly printed broadsheet, 14 x 8 1/2 inches, recto printed in green and black and with seal affixed, the text enclosed within an ornamental green border, verso printing "Conditions of Adjustment Effective On and After January 1, 1936," allowing a burial benefit of up to $80 and family benefits up to $300. The order began in Houston in 1882 as the Ancient Order of Pilgrims, a benevolent order for African Americans; that organization folded in 1931 and it was revived the following year by G.A. Kennedy as the Progressive Order of Pilgrims. Paper clip shadow in upper margin, else very good. Folded as for filing. (8656).
