The author's promised second volume of the War of Independence in Holland, "By Pike and Dyke" being volume one. Inscription at first blank page: "Arthur Salt from Kriegh Collins, Xmas 1890." An Arthur Salt was born in England in 1874, and Kreigh Collins was "an American tennis player from Chicago at the turn of the 20th century. He was ranked U.S. No. 5 in singles in 1899, 1900, 1903 and 1904." Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound, internally clean hardcover copy, with lightly bruised tips, neat and tidy paste-downs, and light scuffing to edges and spine. Red leather covers with gilt lettering and illustration to front and spine.
