13 March 1858. 3½ x 8½ inches, marked On Her Majestys Service, with a weak strike of HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA, London arrival cds. George Augustus Constantine Phipps, 2nd Marquess of Normanby (1819 1890), styled Viscount Normanby between 1831 and 1838 and Earl of Mulgrave between 1838 and 1863, was a British Liberal politician and colonial governor of Nova Scotia, Queensland, New Zealand and Victoria. He was the 32nd Governor of Nova Scotia, in office from 15 February 1858 to 17 September 1863.
