Three volumes of satirical epigrams (of four published total), 28, 60, and 63 pp., respectively, by the Estonian avant-garde teacher, journalist, and writer, taking aim at the literary, cultural, and political establishments within Estonia and throughout Europe, with a wide range of subjects and personalities addressed including Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler, with modernist pictorial covers designed by Peet Aren, Märt Laarman, and Jaan Vahtra. Not illustrated. Sml. 8vo. Original pictorial wrpps., some minor bumping to extremities, especially Vol. II, very minor soiling. Tartus, Estonia ("Aktsiooni" Kirjastus) 1927-1933. Aleksander Antson helped to co-found the "Aktsioon" literary group and through them published a series of three almanacs. He was also known for his travel writing as well as leftist and pacifist plays which described the horrors of war. Märt Laarman was one of the major followers of Cubism and Constructivism in Estonia, and was one of the first to apply the principles of Elementary Typography to book design. He also edited and published The Book of New Art (1928), which helped the public to better understand avant-garde art. Very scarce; as of September 2016, WorldCat shows only a single copy of volume III in North America.
