About This Item
Venice: Paulum Manutium Aldi Filium (Aldus), 1559. Early Edition. Hardcover (Full Leather). Very Good Condition. Rebound in full blue morocco by Bradstreet's, all edges gilt, in a velvet lined clamshell box. With the morroco bookplate of famed book collector Henry William Poor who, like J. Pierpont Morgan, was known to favor the small binder in Lower Manhattan. Hinges rubbed and just splitting, very faint wear to binding otherwise. Scattered mostly minor foxing, added endpapers a bit browned at edges, neat marginal notes and underlining in an early hand (or possibly hands) throughout, trimmed touching some of the added marginalia in spots.
