1841 1st ed BONAPARTE OWNED Davidov Partisan War RUSSIAN Napoleonic Wars
Denis Davidov was a Russian soldier during the Napoleonic Wars who wrote rather unconventional works many, of which, focused on the military, and aspects of war. According to Russian political historian D.S Mirksy, Davidov's works "contain some of the best military reading in the language".
At the end of August 1812, a few days before the Battle of Moscow, Davidov, who at the time was a Colonel of Hussars, obtained permission to harass the lines of French communication. This event was recorded in 'Essai sur la Guerre de Partisans' and describes methods of disrupting enemy communication beginning in the Thirty Years War.
