An illustrated catalogue from an unique exhibition—of recovered paintings that had earlier been stolen by Nazis, during their occupation of Italy. This is the English version of the catalogue, with the original Italian text translated by Sara T. Morey. The preface from MP Guido Gonella addresses the historical theft of these artworks, and the subsequent process of their recovery and restoration. The catalogue descriptions for the 36 entries are particularly tender / more than purely descriptive; including works by Bruegel, Raphael, and Titian.
