Edinburgh and London: Archibald Constable and Co.; Hurst, Robinson, and Co. , 1824 A very good copy of the 3rd edition in 2 volumes with folding map. Captain Hall was a well known naval commander with extensive experience of exploration, being one of the first Europeans to visit and describe Korea. This work was extremely popular - with the 3rd edition being published in the same year as the 1st. This copy is in contemporary half leather binding with raised bands, gilt compartments and title and volume labels to spine, and marbled boards. Top page edges gilt. Vol I: blank; half title; title page; preface; advertisements for the 2nd and the 3rd editions; contents list; folding map; text pp 1-379; blank. Vol II: blank; half title; title page; text pp 1-304; appendix pp 1-71; final blank. The bindings are in very good condition with only slight corner and edge wear, and a little scuffing. Contents in very good clean condition. The map is browned (as usual) and Vol II has a little spotting in the margins for a few pages. Final blanks are spotty in both volumes. A nice set.
