The sought after local history that draws on letters and documents in the possession of Portsmouth and Hampshire councils, telling the story of the Corporation over nearly 1,000 years. Filled with fold out maps of the town at various stages of its history, the maps clean and tidy and expertly repaired with paper strengtheners to folds. This volume has been expertly rebacked with the original spine laid on and retains the coat of arms of the corporation in gilt to the front board. An excellent historical work. Maps at p783 and p760 supplied in facsimile all other maps present. Some foxing to rear leaves. This book is heavy and will require extra shipping charges.
