Perhaps Doumanian, who produced several Woody Allen films, considered making a movie based on this book. In a 1999 talk available online, Sack describes visiting Yad Vashem in 1989 to conduct research, saying "As you know, [Yad Vashem has] fifty million documents about the Holocaust. I asked what they had about Jews in the Office of State Security. They said 'Nothing'. I said 'It had Jewish Commandants and Jewish Directors.'
