Chiswick/London - J Carpenter et al., 1812 Book. GOOD ONLY. Hardcover. A series of fables told in a poetical form. With numerous vignettes throughout. This work comprises of sixty-seven fables in total, told in a poetic narrative. These fables were originally written fro Prince William, later the Duke of Cumberland. John Gay was an English poet and dramatist. He was a member of the informal association, the Scriblerus Club. Condition: In a quarter calf binding with paper covered boards. Externally, sound with slight rubbing to the joints andto the extremities. Loss to the head and tail of spine. Amateurish tape repair to the front joint and to the backstrip. Front hinge is weak. Evidence of bookplate removal to the frontpastedown. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages aregenerally bright with some minor age toning to edges. Occasional spots throughout. Overall: GOOD ONLY..
