Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1881. Decorated green cloth with marbled endpapers. An odd-shaped piece cut out of front free endpaper, hinges cracked, spine headers heavily rubbed, light general wear: VG/no dj. 12mo. Mason #310: 1st American edition, later impression(?) with top edges gilt instead of yellow and decorated endpapers. Binding decoration is sunflowers printed in black rather than cherub imbibing seen on some copies. Mason does not establish priority.

First UK edition. John Camden Hotten. London. 1868. Small octavo. xii, 403pp. Half title, Frontispiece portrait. Title. Later full blue calf, spine in six compartments with raised bands, leather labels, gilt rules and lettering. Lightly toned. Spine slightly darkened. Signature of Raisley Moorsom in pencil to ffep.
The first edition of Whitman published in the UK, the only time Whitman (reluctantly) allowed his writings and his portrait photograph to be censored.

The second edition with additions. Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme. London. [1805] G. Woodfall, Printer, Paternoster Row to verso of half title. Octavo. Half title, Title, xv, 300, (21), (bl.), (1), (1)pp. 6 folding engraved plates. Later half calf, marbled boards, spine in six compartments, leather label, gilt lettering, rules and embellishment. Minor corner chips to half-title. Short closed fold tear to Plate I. Toned with some light offsetting of plates, foxing/browning to index.
This edition has an additional plate to the 1790 edition, plus additional material. The plates are each dated September 1, 1805. Significant to the library of the vine. A handsome volume.

New York: Inkwell Press, 1992. Very Good. Edited by Vincent Torre. 32 cm; [5], 17, [1] leaves. Title page and text pages within colored borders with ornamental block printed in green. Bound in purple straight-grain brocaded silk with green pebbled leather backstrip titled in gilt; with green textured decorative paper endleaves backed with Fabriano, by Ruth Stein (unsigned). One of 45 copies printed on Stonehenge paper and signed by Torre. Few subtle but annoying stains on upper board. According to a note by Torre, these poems were not published until 1931, and are printed here for only the second time (the first time in a separate issue). Offered here in a fine hand-made binding.

Original green cloth trade binding, decorated with a map of the Sierra and surrounding country stamped in gilt on the front cover; and similarly, a logo of the Geological Survey team with their equipment stamped in gilt on the back cover; title in gilt on spine.

Good condition, showing the results of being carried in a pocket or ruck sack (the covers and corners of the fragile binding show some wear; lower right corner of front cover appears to have been bent). Original exhibition catalog issued on the occasion of an exhibition of books containing illustrations by celebrated painter, engraver, publisher and illustrator Jean-Gabriel Daragnes - specifically, woodcuts. Illustrated with an original portrait etching of Daragnes by Andre Dunoyer de Segonzac, 11 black-and-white Daragnes plates, three depicting lesbian scenes, and an original Daragnes hand-colored engraving laid in showing a husband walking in on his wife in bed with her lover - a scene from Fielding's Tom Jones. Signed and inscribed on front free endpaper thus: "Pour Madame Legat | Ce registre d'etat und des infants | qu'un pere demature confie a | l'assistance publingier | le pere indigne | Daragnes."
