London: Rupert Hart Davis, 1959. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's blue boards with silver lettering to the spine. Black and white illustrations by Raymond Briggs who also designed the dustwrapper. A small area of fading at the base of the spine matching wear in the dustwrapper otherwise VG indeed with NO INSCRIPTIONS. In the RARE first issue dustwrapper priced 15s net to the inside flap (as called for). The VG dustwrapper has several, minor tape repairs to the verso with a few nicks and a tiny chip at the head of the spine. Uncommon. Raymond Briggs (1934-2022) was an English illustrator, cartoonist, graphic novelist and author. Photographs/scans available upon request.
