London: Richard Bentley, 1849. Full Leather. Good. Consists of two, two volume sets of Fairfax Correspondences that have been uniformly bound in tan leather with red spine labels. 22.5 x 14 cm. Octavo.405pg, 427pg, 403pg, 416pg. Volumes 1 and 2 are Memoirs of the Reign of Charles the First by edited by Johnson while volumes 3 and 4 are Memorials of the Civil War comprising the correspondence of the Fairfax Family with the most distinguished personages engaged in that memorable contest edited by Bell. Frontispieces in each volume.Wear to the spines, rear hinge of volume 1 is quite worn and close to being detached, there is also a chip out of the tail of that spine. Gilt embellished spines show some discoloration and wear. Previous owner's contemporary bookplate on front fixed endpaper of each volume. Some foxing to the first and last few pages, in some cases effecting the frontispieces.
