New York: Delacorte Press/Seymour Lawrence, 1973. Donleavy, who died in 2017, turned "the great sad cathedral" of New York into his signature comic romance, leavened by his Irish wit. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the Second Printing (stated) of the First American Edition. Green cloth binding with titling on the spine in green and gilt; gilt signature on the front cover. Clean text; 341 pages. This copy has been SIGNED by the author on the second title page. Shows sunfade around the margins, with faint flood marks on the covers. The dustjacket is complete; tanned around the edges, with some slight wrinkling. In an archival plastic protector.. Signed by Author. Second Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good (Minus)/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Synopsis

A Fairy Tale of New York is a novel by Irish American author J. P. Donleavy, published in 1973. The plot concerns Irish-American Cornelius Christian's return to New York after studying in Ireland. The novel was based around Donleavy's earlier work Fairy Tales of New York, a successful stage play published in 1961.
