Selection of essays and editorials that have appeared in the 'Shaft' (September 17, 1890 - March 30, 1972) an American radio commentator whose WWII era sign-on 'There's good news tonight' became both his catchphase and his caricature. He also gave the self-help group Alcoholics Anonymous its first national exposure with a 1939 interview. He was a morale booster during some of the nation's most arduous days. Book is edgeworn, leather that is flaking, large section of spine is chipped off. Deckled (untrimmed) page edges. Front and back pastedown and end-papers are age-toned. Otherwise, a bright, clean and unmarkedcopy. ~~J~~
