Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Unclipped jacket. Panels and spine have light edgewear with tears and creases. Visible wear marks to spine and panels.

Price clipped. Barney Josephson was the proprietor of the legendary (and controversial) interracial New York City night clubs, Cafe Society Downtown and Cafe Society Uptown. He and his wife, Gloria, ran The Cookery, a jazz club in Greenwich Village together. Red cloth spine over orange paper-covered boards, lettered in gilt to spine with gilt decoration to front board, brown endpapers, 8-5/8" tall, 192 pp. Owner's bookplate to front endpaper, else near fine; dust jacket with one taped tear to top of front panel, moderate rubbing to white background, price intact. From the Greenwich Village restaurant The Cookery, the authors present recipes "to be prepared at home, where there are cooks, not chefs." The Cookery ran for thirty years, and had three locations. It closed & reopened in the mid-1980s under new ownership, although Barney Josephson remained a part owner.
