About This Item
London: Macmillan and Co, 1923. Book. Illus. by Thomas Hardy. Very Good. Buckram. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Dark green buckram, gilt titles to spine and decoration to front. First Edition, on laid paper, with a frontispiece (original tissue guard present) and a plate by the author, free endpapers a little foxed, a very good, bright copy. Hardy's great Arthurian verse drama is unusual among his works in that the two illustrations - 'Tintagel Castle' as frontispiece (repeated in gilt on front board) and the castle's 'Great Hall' - are the work of the author himself..
