Gorey, Edward. 3 volumes, complete, first trade edition, oblong twentyfourmo size, 32 pp. in each volume. The first printings of a set of three softbound books, "The Disrespectful Summons", "The Abandoned Sock", and "The Lost Lions", each told and illustrated in Gorey's inimitable style.
___DESCRIPTION: All three volumes softbound with pictorial wrappers, stapled, limitation statement on verso of title pages; oblong twentyfourmo size (5" by 6"), each with 32 unnumbered pages, one of 500 copies, of a total edition of 526 (26 being lettered and signed by Gorey; these each one of the 500 not lettered nor signed). Held in a white envelope with publisher's printing on the upper left front corner.
___CONDITION: Volumes are each fine, the binding is strong, the pages clean and crisp, all are free of prior owner markings; one volume (The Lost Lions) has a very small spot of soiling towards the top of the front wrap in the margin surrounding the cover illustration, and all three have some dustiness to the top and fore-edges, else fine. The envelope is very good, it is sturdy and whole but there is some light soiling and creasing; a prior owner or prior bookseller wrote "7.50" in pencil at the upper right-hand corner, and it has a couple of very short closed tears.

The Lost Lions (Dated 1973): [16] leaves with fourteen illustrations accompanied by text on facing leaf. Light sunning to spine and edges of wrappers of The Abandoned Sock. Slight wear and three tiny circular stains on front cover of The Lost Lions, and rubbing to top-edge. Otherwise interior clean, crisp. Near fine collection of stories, from Gorey's own Fantod Press.
