About This Item
Nevil Shute Norway (1899-1960) was a brilliant English-Australian novelist, pilot and aeronautical engineer. He wrote 24 novels, many of which have been made into famous films, with On the Beach and A Town Like Alice being among the most famous; his novel The Pied Piper continues to be required reading in schools all over the world.
The Far Country is the story of an English woman who travels to Australia and falls in love with the country. But it is also quite political--a commentary on looking after one's citizens (the National Health Service was new) and the treatment of immigrants in Australia.
It has been filmed twice, for television.

Very plain--red boards with an 'S' on the cover and gold type on the spine. The spine has minor shelf wear and there are a couple of tiny marks on the back cover, which should brush off. Other than that, this book is clean and clear.
