This novel follows several cousins who are together in South Devon for the summer holidays. Several personal items go missing from the house. Upon exploring the eerie cellars and passageways under the house two of the children are kidnapped by international crooks. The mystery unfolds in this gripping children's tale. The first edition, held in original price-clipped dustwrapper. Elinor M Brent-Dyer was an extremely popular author. She wrote over 100 novels in her lifetime and is best known for her 'Chalet School' series. Condition: In original cloth binding and held in original price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Light rubbing and bumping to the head and tail of spine as well as to the extremities. Very minor rubbing to the extremities. Dustwraper has suffered loss to the head and tail of spine due to chipping, worse to the head of spine. Small closed tears to the tail of joints. Patches of rubbing to the joints, resulting in a small hole to the front joint. Several marks and light spots to the rear wrap. Offsetting to endpapers. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper, Agnes Clayton. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Occasional light spots to pages and foredge. Overall Condition: Very Good Indeed in a Good dustwrapper.
